cool your home the natural way
Natural ventilation
Take advantage of natural ventilation during the cooler parts of the day, especially early in the morning. Open windows on opposite sides of your home to create a draft. This will allow fresh air to flow in and displace the warm, heavy and stale air.
Set the fan counterclockwise
Ceiling and portable fans are an excellent tool for improving airflow. In
summer, set ceiling fans to rotate anti-clockwise and push air downwards. This
will create a cooling breeze that will help maintain the optimum temperature
and reduce the need to continuously run the air conditioner.
Keep curtains and blinds drawn during the hottest parts of the day, especially if your windows are exposed to direct sunlight. This simple measure can significantly reduce the amount of heat entering your home. This will, of course, make it easier to maintain a lower temperature.
Cotton
Cotton fabrics are extremely breathable and help cool your body. Wear light, loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics. The same applies to your bed. Make sure your bed is covered with appropriate bed linen. Velfont products are made from 100% organic cotton and other natural materials using state of the art NASA technology. Velfont products feature the exclusive Neotherm® protective membrane that ensures our waterproof sheets have unrivalled breathability. Advanced technology allows sweat to evaporate more easily and ensures a more comfortable, sweat-free sleep even on the hottest nights.
A cool shower and a cold drink
There's no need to immediately turn up the air conditioning when it gets hotter. Take a shower with cool water to cool down or enjoy your favourite ice cream or cold refreshing beverage.
